‘Confetti marbles’ were first made in the 1930’s. This beauty was given to me from a ‘seasister’ in Chicago. Marbles are more plentiful in Lake Michigan due to the World’s Fair and kids playing with marbles that found their way into storm drains and then have tumbled for decades! My pal gifted this to me as she knows I love to get shots of my glass illuminated with west coast sunsets! I immediately pulled out a shell that I happened to have with me and shot this the day she gave it to me. The sunset was perfect and I set up well east of that lowering tide, JUST IN CASE! Well,..... a rogue wave came out of nowhere and claimed her back to the sea. I immediately hollered, ‘I’ve lost my MARBLE, HELP!!!” My husband and cousin came running and we took out our phone flashlights; sadly, the last light came and went and no marble was found. Washed away, but not forgotten; mostly, her generosity will always be remembered!
